About Us:
Michael Hurley Vice President
Michael earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Finance from Texas A & M University in 1989. He has been with US Oncology since 1994 where his roles as regional manager of managed care and vice president of business development enabled him to build close relationships with the physicians, nurses, and pharmacists of community-based oncology practices throughout the country. Before joining Oncology Today, Michael served for three years as vice president of Market Focus, the business unit within US Oncology that provides data analytics and educational programs for biopharmaceutical manufacturers. Early on in his role at Market Focus, Michael identified the need for accredited medical education that focused on the unique needs of the community cancer care provider and was instrumental in the creation and growth of Oncology Today. As the current vice president of Oncology Today, Michael is responsible for overall business development and management, as well as generating and strengthening relationships with community-based oncology practices.
Jessica Ferdinand Medical Education Advisor
Jessica Ferdinand graduated from Northeastern University in 1988 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and Marketing. She brings extensive experience, expertise, and a passion for excellence in education to Oncology Today. Jessica’s career in medical education spans over 15 years and entailed the design, development, and implementation of innovative and compelling medical education programs. Jessica has also been at the forefront of the development and implementation of multidisciplinary survivorship initiatives in cardiology and oncology. As the creator of Oncology Today, Jessica pioneered our innovative model of educating community-based cancer care professionals. In her current advisory role, she helps provide the foundation for Oncology Today’s business development and uniquely focused programming.
Eric Nadler, M.D., M.P.P. Texas Oncology, P.A. Texas Oncology, P.A. Baylor-Charles A. Sammons Cancer Center Medical Advisor
After graduating with a bachelor’s degree with high honors from Wesleyan University in 1995, Dr. Nadler earned a Master of Public Policy Degree at Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government. He then earned his medical degree at Harvard Medical School in 2000. Dr. Nadler completed an internship and residency in internal medicine at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston. Following that, he moved to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute for a clinical fellowship in medical oncology. In 2005, he joined Texas Oncology, PA in Dallas as a medical oncologist where he is the co-chair of thoracic oncology research.
Dr. Nadler has an active interest in medical education and improving how clinicians learn and apply that information. He previously served as the medical director at Physician Education Resource and has strong working relationships with oncologists in the community and academic settings including thought leaders in both. Dr. Nadler brings considerable experience in clinical oncology, community-based practice, and innovative learning modalities to his role as medical advisor for Oncology Today.
Debra Rembert, R.N., M.S.N., P.N.P. Associate Director of Scientific Services
After completing her Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing at Houston Baptist University in 1989, Debbie went on to complete a master’s degree in oncology and education at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston School of Nursing, as well as a post-master’s degree in the Nurse Practitioner Program. Her 13 years of clinical experience include positions as a registered nurse and a phase I clinical trial research nurse at Texas Children’s Cancer Center, Texas Children’s Hospital.
Most recently, Debbie has been on faculty at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston School of Nursing, and was also faculty advisor for international students interested in oncology. She has been a speaker at local and national conferences on the topic of pediatric cancer, has served as faculty for the End of Life Nursing Education Consortium (ELNEC) at Texas Children’s Hospital, and has been an invited speaker for the Texas Nurse Oncology Education Program (NOEP).
With over 17 years in the nursing profession and 10 years in nursing education, Debbie is well suited to accelerate and enhance the learning process of professionals in the community to keep current on the ever-changing trends and practices in oncology care.
As Associate Director of Scientific Services, Debbie is responsible for all scientific aspects of developing and delivering core scientific curriculum and programs, as well as staying current with oncology clinical data and trends that provide direction on educational areas of importance.
Andrea Humphries, Ph.D. Scientific Services Writer and Editor
Andrea received her undergraduate degree in microbiology from Texas A&M University in 1998 and her Doctorate of Medical Sciences from the Department of Medical Microbiology and Immunology at the Texas A&M University System HSC in 2005. During her two years of postdoctoral training in protein biochemistry at the Texas A&M Institute for Biosciences and Technology, her studies focused on the molecular interactions of bacteria with host proteins. Subsequently, she devoted her full attention to clinical/scientific writing and editing. Her education and experience have given Andrea the tools necessary to critically evaluate and edit all the educational content and materials produced by Oncology Today.
Dawn Riggenbach Program Manager
Dawn was one of the first members of the Oncology Today staff and has been instrumental in developing the infrastructure, policies, and procedures that support the development and delivery of high quality and compliant educational programs. Dawn has over ten years of experience in business development, project management, and customer service. She also brings experience in developing collateral materials and implementing marketing campaigns. Dawn has assumed management responsibility for all technical aspects of educational programs, implementation of web-based initiatives, and audience recruitment.
As program manager, Dawn is responsible for supporting the infrastructure, providing the attention to detail, and managing high level coordination needed to implement educational programs.
